The Ombudsman of Mauritius is a full-fledged voting member of the following international organisations:

The International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), established in 1978, is a global organisation for the cooperation of more than 200 independent Ombudsman institutions from more than 100 countries worldwide. The IOI is organised in six regions (Africa, Asia, Australasia & Pacific, Europe, the Caribbean & Latin America and North America). In its effort to focus on good governance and capacity building, the IOI supports its members in a threefold way: training, research and regional subsidies for projects.

We are a member of the IOI since 1978.

The Association des Ombudsmans et Médiateurs de la Francophonie (AOMF) has the primary mission of promoting the role of the Ombudsman and Mediator within the Francophonie and encouraging the development and strengthening of independent mediation institutions. The Association assists Francophone countries in establishing new mediation institutions and also provides expertise to existing institutions.

The Office of the Ombudsman is a member of the AOMF since 1998 and is also a member of the AOMF Committee of Public Integrity (Comité sur intégrité publique) since 20th February 2024.

The African Ombudsman and Mediators Association (AOMA) is a regional organisation for Ombudsman and Mediators in Africa. The objectives of the AOMA are to encourage the establishment of African Ombudsman institutions, to provide information, training and development of Ombudsman Offices and staff and to foster affiliation and maintain liaison between Ombudsman Offices and other relevant institutions and organizations.

We are a voting member of the AOMA since 2003 and in November 2023, the Ombudsman was appointed Regional Coordinator of the AOMA for the Indian Ocean Region.
