​​ior19.jpg​IOI-AORC Mediation Training for African Ombudsman & IOI Meeting of the African Region

​From the 12th to the 15th of March, a Mediation Training for African Ombudsman was held in Durban, South Africa. The capacity building was organized by the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) in collaboration with the African Ombudsman Research Centre (AORC) for the needs of African Ombudsman’s institutions, hosted by the Public Protector of South Africa​.
On March 12th, the IOI Regional meeting was coordinated by Ms. Caroline Sokoni, Public Protector of Zambia and IOI Regional President of Africa.  Günther Kräuter, IOI Secretary General presented the IOI in detail. 
​A special focus was given on IOI membership admission as well as the criteria which have to be fulfilled in order to be entitled to voting-membership.
The interactive mediation training, which began on March 13th was provided by Dr. McQuoid-Mason a leading Africa-centric mediation trainer and scholar based at University of KwaZulu- Natal’s (UKZN) School of Law, who is an expert in his field.
The Office of the Ombudsman, being a member of both AOMA and IOI, was represented by Mr. A.RAMTAHUL, Senior Investigations Officer.
