            Notes

 

I joined the Government Administrative Services as Administrative Officer/Assistant Secretary in 1972 after a Competitive Examination held by the Public Service Commission.  During my career in the Government I worked with the five Prime Ministers that Mauritius has known, six Cabinets of Ministers and twenty-six individual Ministers.   As Secretary to Cabinet I worked directly with three Prime Ministers and three Deputy Prime Ministers who acted as Prime Minister, one of whom is now the Prime Minister.  As Assistant Secretary I  worked with one Prime Minister who was also responsible for Aid

Co-ordination and Technical Co-operation.  Besides, I occupied both the position of Secretary to Cabinet and Head of the Civil Service in a substantive capacity, and that of Clerk to Cabinet in my capacity as Principal Assistant Secretary.

 

9.    Awards

    1. Was made Honorary Citizen of the Grand Port / Savanne District Council and the Pamplemousses / Riviere du Rempart District Council in 1990 and 1991 respectively.
    2. Was awarded the GOSK (Grand Officer of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean) in 2003 for Distinguished and Dedicated Services in the Management of Public Affairs.​
