2.The African Ombudsman Centre (A.O.C.)
The headquarters of the Centre are located at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, East Africa.
Its main objectives are:
to encourage the establishment, development and promotion of the Ombudsman Institution in Africa;
to promote the study of the activities, obligations and problems of Ombudsman Offices in Africa;
to mobilize funds both locally and internationally for the achievement of the objectives of the Centre;
to promote respect for and observance of Human Rights;
to be the secretariat of the African Ombudsman for the Regional and Sub-Regional Conferences;
to foster affiliation and maintain liaison with other Ombudsman Offices and Institutes, International Bodies and Organisations interested in the progress of Ombudsman activities and Human Rights;
to identify and carry out any other relevant activities which the Members may deem appropriate.
Such objectives are achieved essentially through the organisation of regional and sub-regional conferences, seminars, training courses, research and documentation, and cooperation with other institutions having similar objectives.
